Oh, Isla. I can’t believe how many echoes of myself I found in you, especially during that break up scene. Oh, God, can I ever relate to pushing people away before they can do it themselves. Of feeling like you’re merely a placeholder. Of being unworthy of love. (And man, does that ever apply to more than just romantic love, too.)
Perhaps the walls have come down, but I realize I still have secret rooms that I can run and hide in. Places that keep my safe and protected.
But life is unlike the movies, or in this case a YA book, and I’ve yet to get my Happily Ever After. Nor am I sure that I ever will. To be with someone and know that I’m home, that I’m loved, and that I belong to them (and vice versa).
I’ve given up on that ever happening.
And while that makes me a little sad, I’m not unhappy alone. It’s just, at times, kind of
Love at first listen, really.
Just Like the Movies came at the right time for me. Drowning in committee graphic novels, I needed a light read with a bit of fluff; something that Just Like the Movies nailed perfectly. After all, what girl hasn’t dreamed at one time or another of having that perfect movie romance?
My latest book review.
Alright, shesalright here’s your answers
5: What are you looking forward to in the next week? A couple of things. I’m always looking forward to my weekly yoga session, plus it looks like I have a possible “date” next Sunday.
10: Have you ever told somebody you loved them and not actually meant it? Not that I know of. I don’t use that word loosely.
20: Who did you last see in person? Um, people in my yoga class? Two of them are co-workers, so I actually do know them, lol.
25: Do you use chap stick? If I remember. Or if I see it. And since I’ve been getting a lot in my subscription boxes lately, I’ve been using it a lot more.
30: How is your heart lately? Shaky, but okay.
35: Are there any stressful situations in your life? At times. Mainly related to work, which I’m slowly getting changed aka getting me out of unhealthy environments.
40: What is on your wrists right now? My tattoos and a hair tye
45: Have you kissed anyone in the last five days? Really? Did you even read the questions to the numbers you picked?!
50: Think of the last person who said I love you, do you think they meant it? I would hope so. I think saying I love you and not meaning it is horrible.
